The story of Almere Pinoy Store began when I relocated to the Netherlands in 2020 with my British expat husband who already lived in the Netherlands for many years. As a Filipina expat adapting to life in a new country, the transition brought both excitement and challenges. Learning a new language, adjusting to a different culture, and settling into a new environment required resilience—and throughout this process, I often longed for the familiar comfort of Filipino food.
During my search for Filipino products, I discovered a small online shop operating from an attic. I visited it to purchase groceries that reminded me of home. On my second visit, the owner shared that she could no longer continue the business and asked if I would be interested in taking it over.
At that time, I felt unprepared. I had only been in the Netherlands for two years, I was still learning Dutch, and I was working full-time in a large logistics company. I asked for time to carefully consider the opportunity. Over the next three months, I weighed my doubts against my confidence in my ability to work hard, learn quickly, and build something meaningful.
Eventually, I chose to embrace the challenge. I rebuilt the business from the ground up, continually learning, adapting, and strengthening its operations.
Today, more than three years later, Almere Pinoy Store has grown from a modest attic shop into a trusted Filipino retailer in the Netherlands. We are now proud to ship to 28 countries across Europe, bringing Filipino products and flavors to Filipinos and Filipino food enthusiasts throughout the region.
Our mission is clear: To make Filipino products accessible to every Filipino household in Europe and to promote the richness of Filipino food and culture.
